SUMMARY:Implementing a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan for the Dental Practice & When the Front Office Walks Out: One Doctor’s Case for Remote Staffing
DESCRIPTION:1 Core CE and 1 20% CE \nImplementing a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan for the Dental Practice \nThis course equips dental professionals with a clear understanding of the fundamental requirements of California’s new Workplace Violence Prevention law. Participants will learn what is required to create and implement a comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) tailored to the unique challenges of dental practices. \nThe program will also cover best practices under California law to ensure compliance with the Cal/OSHA workplace violence prevention standard and maintain a safe environment for employees and patients. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand the legal requirements for workplace violence prevention under California law and Cal/OSHA standards.\nIdentify potential risks and warning signs of workplace violence specific to dental practices.\nThe importance of developing and implementing an effective Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP).\nLearn best practices for responding to workplace violence incidents\, including reporting and follow-up procedures.\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMichael Rossiter\, JD\n\n\nAbout the Speaker \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMichael J. Rossiter\, a partner at Scott & Whitehead\, is licensed to practice law in California and Utah. He represents and advises employers in all areas of employment law\, including harassment\, discrimination\, retaliation\, employment agreements\, wage and hour issues\, and employment policies. For the past several years\, Mr. Rossiter has conducted harassment prevention training\, reflecting his dedication to fostering harassment-free workplaces. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen the Front Office Walks Out: A Case Study in Remote Staffing\, Practice Continuity\, and Patient Experience \nCourse Introduction \nFront office turnover can bring a dental practice to a standstill. When the people who answer the phones\, manage the schedule\, verify insurance\, follow up with patients\, and keep administrative systems moving suddenly leave\, the impact is immediate: missed calls\, delayed follow-up\, frustrated patients\, overwhelmed clinical teams\, and lost production. \nIn this case-based course\, Dr. Josh Solomon will share how his practice navigated a significant front office staffing disruption and rebuilt operational stability using a remote front office model. The discussion will explore what worked\, what was challenging\, and what other practices can learn from the experience. \nParticipants will gain a practical understanding of how remote administrative support can be structured\, what responsibilities can be handled outside the physical office\, and how to maintain accountability\, communication\, HIPAA awareness\, and patient trust. The course will also address common concerns around team buy-in\, patient satisfaction\, workflow integration\, and hiring the right remote team members. \nThis session is designed to provide an honest\, peer-led look at remote staffing as one possible strategy for improving practice continuity\, reducing administrative strain\, and supporting a consistent patient experience. \nCourse Objectives \nBy the end of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify the operational impact of front office turnover on scheduling\, patient communication\, insurance workflows\, billing follow-up\, team morale\, and practice continuity.\nEvaluate which front office responsibilities may be appropriate for remote administrative support\, including scheduling\, insurance verification\, patient communication\, billing support\, and administrative follow-up.\nDescribe key HR considerations for hiring\, onboarding\, and managing remote front office team members\, including communication skills\, accountability\, HIPAA awareness\, technology comfort\, and performance expectations.\nApply practical strategies for integrating remote staff into existing practice workflows\, including communication systems\, task handoffs\, escalation protocols\, documentation\, and team alignment.\nDiscuss how remote front office support can affect patient experience and satisfaction\, including responsiveness\, personalization\, trust\, continuity\, and quality of communication.\n\n\n  \n \nDr. Joshua Solomon \nAbout the Speaker \nDr. Joshua Solomon is a second-generation pediatric dentist and has been in practice in Livermore\, California\, for 20 years. He is a graduate of the University of the Pacific with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a D.D.S. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American College of Pediatric Dentistry. \nWhen not treating patients in his office\, Dr. Josh is an internationally recognized speaker and clinical instructor. Dr. Solomon is the owner/director of the Bioclear Pediatric Learning Center and the Dental Specialty Training Center. The center was designed to provide small-group\, hands-on courses in advanced restorative techniques for pediatric and general dentists. He serves as a product evaluator and key opinion leader for many national and international dental companies. \n\n  \n\n \nChristine Sison \nAbout the Speaker \nChristine Sison is the CEO/Founder of Swiss Monkey. SUMMARY:Implant Crowns Are Not Teeth: Rethinking the Biological Connection
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\nMany clinicians approach implant crowns as direct replacements for teeth—but this mindset can lead to esthetic compromises\, biomechanical failures\, and long-term complications. In this compelling two-hour online course\, you’ll learn why implant restorations require a fundamentally different design approach. Dr. Stevenson\, an expert in evidence-based restorative protocols\, will guide you through the critical differences between tooth-borne and implant-supported prostheses\, and how to select the right abutment\, impression technique\, and material for each case. Whether you’re placing single units or restoring full arches\, this course will help you make biologically sound decisions that protect your patient’s investment—and your reputation. \n  \nLearning Objectives:\nAt the conclusion of this course\, participants will be able to: \n\nEvaluate how biological and biomechanical differences between teeth and implants influence restorative planning and design.\nApply clinical decision-making principles to select abutments\, retention methods\, and materials that enhance long-term implant success.\nDesign a workflow for implant crown delivery that emphasizes esthetics\, occlusion\, and long-term stability.\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRichard G. Stevenson III\, DDS\, FAGD\, FACD\, ABOD \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker \n\n\n\n\nDoctor Stevenson earned his DDS from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1986. After practicing general dentistry for 7 years in Laguna Niguel\, California\, he accepted a full-time teaching position at the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1993 where he served as Chair of the Section of Restorative Dentistry for 17 years. He has published dozens of articles on dental materials\, the principles of evidence-based dentistry\, and restorative techniques has written several textbook chapters and syllabi. He is the inventor of several unique dental instruments which are used in dental education and clinical practice. Dr. Stevenson is Board Certified in Operative Dentistry. He practices dentistry in San Dimas\, CA with a focus on Microscope\, Implant and Esthetic Dentistry. Although he retired from UCLA in 2018 as Professor Emeritus of Clinical Dentistry\, he says that he’s just getting started! After leaving UCLA he founded Stevenson Dental Solutions\, a teaching institute dedicated to hands-on training where he serves as the Director of Education. Recently he established a non-profit corporation investigating best practices in dentistry and innovative methods of delivering quality care and pre-professional education to communities with the most need. He lives in La Verne\, California with his wife Savi. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nMembership is being verified. All registrants will receive a personalized webinar link. If you do not receive a webinar link 3 days before the class\, please call the OCDS office at (714) 634-8944 or email srobers@ocds.org. This course will not be recorded. \n\n\n\n\nCANCELLATION POLICY: Refund requests for meetings will only be honored up to 4:30 pm one week prior to the meeting.
